Today we invite you to discover the Casino of Monte Carlo which is one of the world’s most beautiful casinos. Here the splendor of yesteryear has retained all its magnificence. Enter the legend of Monte Carlo Casino and discover this beautiful place full of history! The Casino was made famous in the whole world by the Monaco Grand Prix (Formula 1) which every year transforms the Principality, in a racetrack during a week end.
The Monte Carlo Casino is located in the heart of Monaco Principality, right next to the prestigious hotel de Paris and le Louis XV (Alain Ducasse starred restaurant), less than 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel Hermitage, the Metropole and the Fairmont Monte Carlo and 15 minutes from the Rocher area where the Prince Albert is leaving in the Prince’s Palace. Every morning you can visit the casino and take pictures, which isn’t possible when the players take place around the slot plays and table games in the early afternoon.
Note that travelers staying in one of Monaco luxury hotels belonging to the SBM (Société des Bains de Mer de Monaco) enjoy a complimentary access to the Monte Carlo Casino. They can also take the SBM free shuttle to reach the Place du Casino from their hotel. It is pretty convenient if you are staying at the Monte-Carlo Bay or the Monte-Carlo Beach as they are just 5 minutes away from the Casino with the shuttle. From Le Meridien Beach Plaza, you can take a taxi or the bus to reach the Casino. If you are not staying in a SBM hotel and you want to play, you will have to pay an access fee of 10€ to enter the Casino then another 10€ if you want to access the table games private rooms.
The first time I discovered the famous Place du Casino (Monte Carlo Casino Square), I had the feeling of being immersed in a James Bond movie : a collection of the most beautiful and rare cars, a dream setting, well-dressed people, everything is there!
While you walk into the Monaco Casino, it is important to look up as the ceilings are really beautiful! The architecture of the Casino follows the Belle Epoque style. The building was designed by the famous architect Charles Garnier in the 19th century, who has also designed Paris and Monaco Operas.
Slot play, blackjack and roulette : there is a game for everyone!
The Monte Carlo Casino is a true living place. We can have a drink, dinner, marvel at the beauty of the scenery but also play! So, for the game part, I need to tell you right away, gambling addiction can be really dangerous! So if you do not want to have problems with your banker, the easiest way is to get there without your credit card, just rather take with you an amount of cash that you are prepared to lose without causing any trouble to you as it is most likely what will happen! Indeed, one rarely wins the jackpot at the casino and most often, we lose everything that was wagered. So you’d better not go there and think you’re going to break the bank because the only thing that could break is your credit limit if you are too heavy handed.
In order to let it remain a festive and pleasant time, fix yourself a set ceiling not to be exceeded and then firmly stick to it. You can spend quite a lovely time playing slot machines with small sums. Of course, you will not make a fortune but it should not be your goal! I share with you two techniques that are worth what they are worth to try not to lose it all in minutes :
- don’t switch to a new slot every two minutes if you have the feeling that nothing will come as it is the best way to lose everything.
- as you are here to play, let’s play the maximum number of lines available as if by some miracle the winning combination comes out but you haven’t selected all the lines, you’re going to bite the fingers.
And if you are afraid of being caught by gambling fever, you can always fall back on less risky activities such as a Cinq Mondes spa treament at the Monte-Carlo Bay or a relaxing time at Monte Carlo Thermes Marins of the Hermitage hotel. Two steps from the casino, you can also enjoy two Monegasque legendary party venues : Jimmy’z and Buddha Bar.
When you enter into the area of the Casino games, you first go through the Renaissance Room and the Europe Room where you can find a hundred very recent slot plays. Then you arrive in the Americas Room with Black Jack, Craps and Roulette table games.
The adjoining White Hall is one of the private rooms. It has a magnificent terrace with panoramic views of the Mediterranean sea and the French Riviera (Côte d’Azur). The decoration of the bar and ceiling of the White Hall are worth the trip, as well as the Florentine Graces painting by Paul Gervais illustrating courtesans attending gaming rooms. Black Jack, Roulette, Poker, Punto Banco, Trente et Quarante are among the many possibilities offered to the gamblers. To get access to the private rooms, you should follow a specific dress code and wear a jacket in the evening.
Other private rooms feature architectural treasures like Touzet Room, Medecin Room or the famous Supers Private rooms only available for VIP guests.
As I said earlier, you can have lunch and dinner at the Monte Carlo Casino. We tried the Rose Room and we enjoyed the magical setting of the terrace with panoramic sea views. The menu, made of pub food, is very reasonable.
Le Train Bleu, real institution, offers a gourmet Italian cuisine in a Belle Epoque wagon train decor.
So, if you go to Monaco, visiting the Casino de Monte Carlo is really a must-do. This is certainly one of the most beautiful places in the world in terms of architecture : amazing and totally genuine.
