The Atlantis The Palm in Dubai proudly stands, as its name suggests it, on the eponymous peninsula. It is clearly distinguishable thanks to its iconic architecture giving the feeling to emerge from a dream. All superlatives are appropriate to describe the Atlantis.
Opened in September 2008, The Atlantis is not a regular hotel but a full resort with 1.500 rooms, one of the largest aquariums in the world (65.000 marine animals), 23 restaurants and bars and the famous Aquaventure theme park. The Atlantis is also the place in Dubai where you can dine while admiring the impressive aquarium. The Ossanio provides a unique atmosphere surrounded by captivating views, immersing you in the Ambassador Lagoon. And the hotel is the only place in Dubai and in the Emirates where you can enjoy the best Japanese restaurant : Nobu.
While stepping through the main entrance of the hotel, visitors catch their breath in front of the incredible glass fountain and the lobby architecture with fishtail moldings. This several meters high masterpiece is made of 3000 glass sculptures. You will never see anything like this anywhere else! It immediately brings you in a dream scenery and suggests the best for the rest of the evening : our dinner at the Nobu restaurant!
Dinner at the Nobu
Nobu has a worldwide reputation, beyond cultures and traditions. His restaurants have brilliant success in regions as various as iconic such as Monaco, London or Moscow, Saint-Moritz or Mexico, Beijing or Melbourne… and also in major United States cities such as New-York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami Beach, Dallas or Honolulu. Another reason why the Atlantis can be proud is that it hosts the unique Nobu restaurant of the United Arab Emirates.
Facing the large Aquarium, the restaurant is easily accessible within the large corridors of the Atlantis. When you step into it, you directly feel the Nobu atmosphere. The decor creates warm and zen feelings. It echoes to the Japanese culture blending with modernity and refinement. The change of scenery is total, immersing you in a felted Japanese atmosphere : outstanding!
If you follow our journeys, you certainly remember that we had the chance to already enjoy Nobu delights at the Fairmont Monte Carlo few months ago. So we were really pleased to taste once again the Nobu experience in such a spot like Dubai!
Our table was next to the open kitchen so we could see the preparation of the meals. We decided to start this dinner with a cocktail, without alcohol! Those were pretty fresh with exotic and lemon flavors. If you like the Sake, you’ll certainly be amazed by the large selection of Sake available on the menu.
Nobu Tasting Menu
Nobu philosophy will bring you through a culinary journey in Japanese tradition blending with South American accents. The concept creates a unique signature. The Tasting Menu is the perfect opportunity to discover or rediscover the meals witch made the worldwide success of the Chef.
In this menu, you will have the pleasure to enjoy fine appetizers followed by the soft spiced scallop carpaccio, the famous and must try black cod, the salmon fillet with crispy spinaches and white sesame. Then, the beef tenderloin will come together with a fine selection of salmon, tuna and sea bass sashimi, sushi and maki.
We were delighted with all those courses both for the freshness of the products and the delicate arrangement of savors.
- Soft spice scallops carpaccio
- Black cod
The dessert of the tasting menu also surprised our palates! The Caramelized Vanilla Cake is layers of almond biscuit and cold caramelized “crème-brûlée” which come with an apricot shiso sorbet. Delicious!
To bring back home a souvenir, we received some complementary chocolates presented in nice signed box. Kind intention!
- Delightful dessert
- Chocolates and sorbet
For those looking for privacy, a dedicated dining room is dedicated.
If you’re searching for an outstanding exotic cuisine in a chic and contemporary setting, Nobu restaurant Atlantis the Palm is definitely an address to dine in Dubai. The kindness of the professional service enhanced the nice evening we have spent there.
Our journey at the Atlantis resort
If you go to the Atlantis, you have to step by the Aquaventure Waterpark! That’s what we did. I have to say that it is pretty well organized. We never had to wait for the river rides or the water slides which is quite unusual for this kind of park. This is because it is quite large and there are enough attractions with some that last for more than 10 minutes which is really good.
We especially enjoyed one water slide, the Shark Attack, starting in the Tower of Neptune with spinning riders in a complete darkness and ending into the lagoon filled with sharks where you can see them along with fishes all around you. Nice experience!
The Aquaventure Waterpark is also the unique place in Dubai where you’ll get the chance to swim with dolphins.
We also had the nice opportunity to discover the Royal Bridge Suite, one of the largest suites in the world!
