We went to have a tea time at Le Meurice hotel in Paris in a holiday spirit. This iconic Parisian palace proudly stands in front of the Tuileries garden, close to the Place Vendôme, the Saint-Honoré street and the Louvre museum. To be more specific, you will step the entrance under the Rivoli street arcades after admiring the lovely front windows such as Angelina and its macaroons pyramid.
Immediately, you will be seduced by the splendor of the decor. It reflects the quintessence of the French elegance. The magic continues at the heart of the Dali restaurant where the tea is served. Luxury and audacious touches blend with style here. Beyond its superb, the place is very welcoming. The room is surrounded by majestic columns and revealed under a 145 sqm (1,560 sqft) canvas created by Ara Starck. Ochre and golden tints enhance the warm atmosphere where exclusive creations by Salvador Dali are displayed.
We chose the tea time formula. It is suggested every afternoon at the Dali between 3:30pm and 6pm in a warm atmosphere. For those who wish, a cup of champagne may accompanies this moment.
Le Meurice tea time formula is nicely presented thanks to a three stage plate. You will find a selection of fine finger-sandwiches, scones and pastries. Hot beverages and jams are displayed on a silver plate.
As you can see below, the fine porcelain and its colors variations is magnificent. Those copies come from the Bernardaud collection which could be seen as a reference. Silverware shines with all its brightness. Everything is there to enhance the marvelous tasting we were impatient to experience!
To describe this exceptional tea time, let’s begin by the beginning : the salty part. It includes several perfectly selected finger-sandwiches. The first impression is the perfect quality of the bread and their toasted grilled notes. Then, you discover with pleasure the tastes : tomato, mozzarella and basil, salmon, foie gras, pata negra ham. They are all absolutely delicious! A real delight : refinement, flavor and high quality products. A perfect start before the pastries festival.
For the sweet part, a large assortment of pastries is offered. Not only delicious, they are also nice to see : true jewels. For instance, the pear isn’t a real small fruit but a reproduction made of chocolate with a design set to precisely reproduce the peel. Its heart is filled with a pear mousse that gives the feeling to have crunched the fruit when it is in the mouth : surprising! It is really high-range here, a true goldsmith work. And for the taste of the assortment, what else can we say, an explosion of flavors in the mouth. The choux pastry filled with cream and the lemon tart are also a success.
Here, here the classic scones and the muffins are refined. Light and refined, you will be delighted with the handcrafted jam coming with them. They are presented inside the same fine porcelain with silver spoon.
As this is a palace, regularly, the waiter will come to offer additional sweets. It begins with a kugelhopf, of course delicious. Then also candied chestnuts, cookies and chocolates mendiants. Once again : perfect! And since you will be completely filled by such a generosity, you could bring back home the sweets that you couldn’t taste while being there.
After this, why not extend this outstanding moment in another decor, the one of the Bar 228, also nice, intimate and felted. Undoubtedly, the magic already operates. It is the opportunity to discover another atmosphere, both cozy and felted, before coming back to the Dali for an intimate dinner in a chic and relaxed atmosphere or at the starred restaurant Le Meurice for an exceptional meal.
Le Meurice tea time is well placed in our selection of Paris hotels tea time.
