Spa of the One&Only Royal Mirage in Dubai

During our recent stay at the One&Only Royal Mirage in Dubai, we had the nice opportunity to experience the spa. It is located next to the Residence boutique hotel in the middle of the resort, between the Palace and the Arabian Court. You can enjoy a nice walk through the garden under the shadow of the palm trees or take the resort shuttle to reach it in less than 5 minutes. The spa includes several services such as a hairdresser (Zouari – Paris), a regular spa, a hammam and a fitness center.

The Hammam

Our nice journey at the spa started with the Oriental hammam experience. Located at the ground level, the hammam isn’t only a hammam, it is a full spa experience.

The Hammam of the Royal Mirage resort is the first Moroccan hammam of Dubai. The care ceremonial directly comes from the ancestral traditions. The decoration echoes to Morocco traditions and immerses you in a total change of scenery : a world of luxury and tranquility.

An important rule, there are separate time slots for ladies and gentlemen. Then you’ll also realize that it is organized in a way that it is never really crowded. I really felt like the hammam had been almost dedicated to me.

So first, you enter into the cloakroom where a friendly staff attendant will take care of you. As a welcome, few dates with a fresh juice and a refreshing towel are offered to you. The juice contains orange, pineapple and mint, the flavor is nice and refreshing. The dates are simply the best ones I ever had, so fresh, nothing to do with the ones you usually find at the super market. The taste and texture here are so different. What a nice start!

In the locker, a bathrobe, few towels and a shower cap are waiting for you. Before the treatment, you can enjoy all the facilities of the hammam floor : a sauna, a steam shower and a plunge pool. All are very clean. I have to say that I enjoyed every moment spent there. It is so well organized that you never really see any other customer.

The decoration of the room with the plunge pool is really beautiful, based on Oriental style with alcoves where you can sit and play chess.

Then, the Oriental hammam experience really begins. You enter inside a room with a large marble table in the middle. This is where you’ll have some fun.

Let me describe this 50 minutes journey step by step to give you an idea of what you’ll enjoy :

• first, you sit on a stone bench to get wet with hot water
• then you go to the hammam (hot steam) for few minutes
• after that, your skin will be prepared with black soap
• then, you return into the hammam
• the body scrub starts there while you are lying on the hot marble table. A special glove is used for the body scrub.
• At the end of this step, you can feel that your skin is very soft. Dead cells are gone and you can feel this.
• It is time for another shower with hot and cold water!
• Then the relaxing massage comes to perfect this treatment together with some stretching.
• Last but not least, you will be completely washed with shower gel and then you can feel the final result, a very soft skin.

No other body scrub will provide the same level of result. My skin is so soft now.

It is time to leave this very nice room and its warm Oriental atmosphere. Another room where you can lay on a bed is waiting for you together with some fresh dates and a tea. You can have some rest there and continue to enjoy this special atmosphere.

So it isn’t really a regular hammam here but a full Oriental journey and we really enjoyed it! Not only the treatment is professional with a nice result but also the overall decoration is unique, loved it!

To extend this well-being experience, we also enjoyed a relaxing massage at the Health 1& Beauty Institute floor. You have two floors in the Royal Mirage spa, one for the hammam (and all the spa features such as the sauna and the plunge pool) and another one for the spa treatment rooms.

So we got to the spa floor for our relaxing massage. There is a small shop where you can buy luxury spa products. Once again, you have two areas, one for the women and one for the men. The protocol is similar to the hammam, you are welcomed with a refreshing towel and a fresh juice.

Then we entered into our dedicated areas. As for the rest of the spa, the cloakroom is really refined, made of warm wood tones. Again, it is not really crowded. We were alone in the cloakroom. Nice feeling to have the spa, just for us!

The overall atmosphere is really felted, with soft lighting and warm colors.

Luxury beauty salon

It is time for the treatment, a relaxing massage for today! This is a 50 minutes massage made with essential oil. The relaxing massage is made in a way that you will feel completely relaxed after the massage, for a long time. The therapist pressured all the areas of my body while I was comfortably lying on the massage table. I have to tell you that this massage table is the most comfortable I have ever enjoyed, almost like a bed!

In the end, I was really relaxed. I got to the relaxation room and remained on a bed for few minutes, enjoying the special feeling of my body after this spa experience. Few days after that, I can still feel the benefits of this overall journey in the hammam and the spa, nice!
