Arrival at the hotel
The Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas is located only 15 minutes from the McCarran international airport. The hotel is in the center of the Las Vegas Strip, between the Monte Carlo and the Aria hotels, an ideal location for those who want to visit the Strip hotels and enjoy shopping while staying in a quiet hotel.
When we arrived, the bellman directly picked up our bags and greeted us. He had been briefed about the purpose of our stay to celebrate some birthdays. He directed us to the front desk located on the 23rd floor of the Mandarin Oriental building. It is a bit unusual to have a desk located on the 23rd floor but it gives a good breath of Vegas while checking in. The front desk is located next to the bar and the Twist restaurant, facing a nice wall made of gold tint decoration. The check in is really quick, you don’t face the large queues you could see in others hotels in Las Vegas. The desk staff offered us a welcome ice tea and a fresh oshibori to refresh after the travel.
Once you have checked in, you can reach your room through another set of elevators, different from the ones used to reach the base level.
The Presidential Suite
Had never seen a suite like this before. It is just amazing. The space available is huge : 279 sqm (3,000 sqft). The only word that came to my mind when I entered the suite was : Waouh! This one is all about space, refinement, luxury and technology!
Let’s try to describe a bit the different areas. First, the main area, a huge living room with 3 different spaces :
- One large corner sofa with a large TV screen equipped with a Bang and Olufsen audio system.
- One dining area with a large glass table top separated from the multimedia area by a wall of transparent bubbles.
- One living area with several chairs and sofa and a nice piano. I have tested this piano (used to play when I was young), sound was really nice.
On the other side, we have a huge opened and equipped kitchen that includes all you can need to prepare a lunch. Also, there is a powder room.
A master piece piano Steinway & Sons stands in a part of the living room. Facing it and the living area, there is a nice desk in alcove with two chairs to discuss with guests or work while enjoying the Strip view.

The bed room features a large bed facing a flat TV screen and several chairs to relax. It also has a nice Strip view on the Planet Hollywood and the Paris hotel and its Eiffel Tower.
The bathroom is a dream for anyone that would have a chance to use it. It is made of black marble. It includes a large square jacuzzi bathtub (the largest one I had ever seen). Also, there are a large Italian shower and separated toilets. The shower includes a steam system that will create the atmosphere of a private hammam inside the shower.
Want to take the time to talk about this bathtub. With the piano, it is one of the specifics of this suite. It is a square jacuzzi so it could easily accommodate up to 4 guests which is never really required but gives you an idea of the space available here. There is a lighting system to color the water with different tints. Then the jacuzzi will create some bubbles into the water thus giving a chance to really relax while enjoying a breathtaking view over the Strip directly from your bathtub!
Next to the bathroom, there is a large dressing and fitness room. The fitness room includes an exercise bike and a Kinesis Technogym wall. Isn’t it a nice touch of luxury to have your own fitness equipment in the room? I have used them and they are really modern and easy to use. On the Kinesis Technogym wall, you select the weights you want to lift and it automatically prepares it for you, then you just have to position yourself based on the way you want to use it.
The entire suite is controlled through a modern automated system to open/close the curtains and the lights. It is easy to use and very useful based on the number of curtains and lights to manage. You have one control system per room and a centralized one next to the bed to open/close everything through the touch pad.

Catering
The Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas offers several options for breakfast. You can grab a coffee and a pastry at the Mozen Bistro or also enjoy a regular breakfast served at the table there. You can order a breakfast through the room service as well. Tried both (Mozen and room service breakfast) and these are equivalent. The room service is just a bit more expensive because of the service charges. The Continental breakfast includes hot drink, fruit juice, sliced fruits and a selection of pastries. It is way enough to start the day. Additional options are available on request.
For lunch, tried the Mozen Bistro. It is located on the 3rd floor of the hotel. Hotel classics are available on the menu. The food quality is quite good and the service was nice and friendly.
Then I suggest you to enjoy a drink at the tea lounge with the breathtaking view over Las Vegas Strip. It is a really special spot. The afternoon tea time also provides delicious appetizers and pastries.
For dinner, the Twist restaurant by Pierre Gagnaire is available, next to the front desk on the 23rd floor is the perfect place to enjoy a starred cuisine while admiring the Strip view.
We’ve also loved a nice room service in intimacy of our stunning Suite.
Activities
The Mandarin Oriental Spa, the pool and the fitness center are available on the 8th floor. The spa is nice and never really crowded as the access is subject to an additional charge. It represents a jewel of luxury and technologies. The spa service is at its highest level. It includes two areas : one for women and the same for men.
The pool area includes several pools. Those aren’t big pools as they are located on the 8th floor but those are enough to refresh. Some cabanas can be rented for the day if you want to relax in a more exclusive area around the pool.
The Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas hotel doesn’t include any casino so it makes it really quiet and less crowded versus others Las Vegas hotels. If you really want to gamble, the Aria casino is only 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. There is also a tram that you can take from the Crystals mall at City Center to reach the Bellagio which also includes a huge casino and its famous fountains. The Crystals at City Center is a nice mall with a lot of luxury retail stores such as Gucci, Christian Dior, Saint Laurent, Fendi, Cartier or Kiki de Montparnasse.
Conclusion
Staying at the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas Emperor Suite (a Presidential suite) is really a special experience. It is like entering into a place where everything has been thought for the pleasure of guests with an extreme care for details. The Mandarin Oriental is one of the best hotels in Las Vegas and this Presidential suite is one of the most refined in Sin City.
Once you cross the suite doors, you realize that you are in a very exclusive place. And the enchantment will last until you leave it. Then you’ll just miss it!
The Mandarin Oriental experience is also based on the high level of service, customized to make you feel special. From the house keeping to the concierge, all the staff was really professional and friendly, very discrete but quite efficient. I really appreciated the fact that they reached out to me in advance prior to my arrival to inquiry about my requirements and how they could help to make the stay memorable. This experience was really outstanding and I will remember it forever.
