Arrival at the hotel

45 minutes away from Paris, not far from the castle, the Dolce Chantilly is the perfect getaway for city dwellers looking to get out of town for a week end or more. The hotel is nestled inside a green area thus making it a dream place for golf addicts.

We have stayed in a Suite located on the third and last floor offering a nice view over the golf with 3 openings having different viewpoints. From there, we can enjoy the golf panorama extending over the forest and the water way with its jardin à la française style along the hotel and the pool. The effect is a complete change of scenery.

The suite is pleasantly furnished. From the entrance, a large corridor is opening on the bathroom, a spacious dressing and the living room with the bedroom. The whole is bright and decorated in a contemporary manner. We can find there two flat screen TV (one in the living room and another in the bedroom). A desk has been set in front of a window thus allowing working with a view over the golf.

The bathroom is quite large and has all the required comfort : two sinks, a bathtub and a large walk-in shower separated by a glass window and equipped with a towel warmer. A nice and unique detail : a window opening on the living room inviting daylight in the bathroom. To optimize the space, a sliding door. To relax, the bathtub is a jacuzzi bathtub thus allowing enjoying a private jacuzzi in the suite. Directly accessible from the entrance, the toilets are separated.

The large dressing is perfect staying at the hotel for few days. Everything is in order : space available to open two luggage, an iron and an ironing board and a safety deposit box.

The 180 cm large bed offers a very good level of comfort. The sheets are particularly silky.

The suite seemed to be very new, in a perfect condition. The sofa is very smooth.

Catering

The first evening, we have been to the Donatello Bar for the dinner in order to enjoy the mild temperature of this summer evening. What a great idea! The terrace is surrounded by lawn and water. The setting is bucolic and peaceful… The menu offers a tasty range of meals. We have selected the burger and the club sandwich. Both come with French fries. We really enjoyed this time both for the relaxing environment and the meals delivered. We ended this dinner by sharing a selection of desserts of the day, a delicate sweet touch.

Desserts Dolce Chantilly

The breakfast is a moment greatly expected. It is set as a large buffet in La Véranda restaurant. There should be something in it for everyone : hot meals such as sausages, potatoes, cooked mushrooms or tomatoes, also a cold selection with classics such as the cheese and ham, a large offering of fruits (pineapple, melon, water melon, kiwi, citrus, grapes or apples), dairy product, cereals, several kind of breads and of course the Viennese pastries. Everything is there! How enjoyable is it to start the day by spending some time next the bay windows surrounding La Véranda.

For the lunch, we have been to the terrace of the Swing. The Swing is the restaurant next to the Golf Club and the swimming pool. The strong point of this restaurant is the buffet. The quality for price ratio is excellent. Several formulas are available : starter and main course, main course and dessert or starter, main course and dessert. The price difference is so low that you’d better opt for the winning trio (the 18 holes formula). We had the choice between sea food such as oysters for instance, cold cut, verrines, repined cheese, meat, poultry, fish and to finish desserts such as chocolate mousse, fruits, lemon meringue pie, chocolate pie, flan, verrines and also the well-known Chantilly cream! Please note that you can also select options à la carte. We really enjoyed this buffet formula, both simple and inexpensive but still with a good level of quality!

La Véranda restaurant

Delighted by our lunch experience, we have decided to reiterate the buffet experience at La Véranda restaurant for the dinner. There, the meals are more refined and the number of options offered is larger. So we enjoyed even more. This formula is a very good idea. In addition to the classic dishes, the restaurant offers more uncommon meals. It is the case of the swordfish that was available on that evening. For the desserts, you will definitely find something to your taste between verrines, pies, cakes, cookies and marshmallows.

As for La Véranda, the bistronomique restaurant Le Donatello is very successful. For this reason, we advise you to book a table if you want to seat next to the bow window : the view is so relaxing! An invitation to walk after the dinner.

Activities

Whether you like sports or not (we don’t really personally), a lot of activities are available!

Beside the swimming pools (one indoor and one outdoor), you will find there tennis clay courts, the well-known golf and several paths to stroll by walking or cycling in the countryside.

The hotel hosts the Garden Golf of Chantilly : a nice 18 holes golf course with 14 holes next to the forest, a practice zone, a water practice and a shop. As we are beginners, we really enjoyed playing on the practice. The golf balls and the clubs can be rented at the shop. It is also possible to take some lessons if you want.

As the weather was nice, we have spent a lot of time at the swimming pool. It is pleasant, surrounded by hedges and deck chairs. Sunshades are set around the pool which is perfect when you are looking for shadow. Towels are available. Separated women and men lockers are next to the entrance.

During our stay, we were tempted to rent some bicycles to stroll around the forest. It is a nice path along the golf and the forest. The desk staff had provided to us a map to show the itineraries. We suggest you to book those upon arrival as their availability is limited.

For those enjoying playing tennis, the courts are well maintained. Still in the same green setting, we can enjoy clay courts. We have played there during one hour.

Conclusion

For non-athletes, we have practiced golf and tennis, cycled, walked, swum (and relaxed), all this with the smile on Saturday and Sunday. The Dolce is perfect to enjoy the benefits of countryside, with the superb Chantilly Garden Golf, while enjoying 4 star comfort.

As we had booked the late check-out option (17h00), we were able to fully enjoy the last day, thus leaving the feeling to have some holidays during a week end.
