Today, we take you on a unique experience to the luxurious Spa at the Mandarin Oriental Paris hotel. We were very excited to discover this spa after our treatment at the Spa of the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas. The least we can say is that the Parisian Spa of the Mandarin Oriental is delivering at the same level as the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas. We will now see why through the full review of this luxury spa which is a true haven of peace.
Staying at Mandarin Oriental is more than just sleeping at the hotel. It is about living an exclusive intimate experience that begins when you get out of your car. So for the spa treatment, it is exactly the same philosophy, we aren’t talking here about a simple massage but a journey where all senses are stimulated.
So we walked through the door of the Mandarin Oriental on a Friday afternoon during the fashion week in Paris. Upon our arrival in the majestic hall of the palace, a person greets us with a smile and accompanies us to the elevator leading to the spa.
Our Spa experience at the Mandarin Oriental Paris
The Mandarin Oriental Spa wellness experience starts right out of the elevator. The atmosphere of this luxury property is peaceful. A light scent is floating in the air, stimulating the senses. The wellness area walls are covered with white flowers. All this is very relaxing.
We are greeted by a charming Spa team, again very cheerful. We are invited to directly take off our shoes to relax the feet. This echoes the Japanese tradition where you are taking off your shoes while entering the house. Flip-flops are available to us for the rest of the adventure. An infusion is also offered to us. You then answer a quick survey about your potential illness and allergies so that the treatment is set accordingly.
We take the few minutes before the start of the body treatment to discover the Spa at Mandarin Oriental Paris. Besides the shop offering a large range of Guerlain products near the desk, the spa has a large heated indoor pool. On the white walls surrounding the pool, we can see butterflies flying. Large benches allow you to relax between two lengths in the pool or few minutes in the steam room.
But now is the time to discover one of the spa suites where we will spend the next hour and a half enjoying the Evolution treatment! This suite is very large. The entrance leads into a first area where there is a large hot tub and a steam shower and on the right, a beautiful wooden wardrobe where you can put your personal belongings. Then, after the suite dressing room, the spa treatment room where two massage tables are waiting for us for a moment of well-being.
The massage tables of this spa are the very best, very high end. Do not look for better tables, you won’t find better to relax. They are heated, reclining and incidentally very fluffy. We could sleep there without any problems.
Elodie and I are discussing about the treatment with our respective masseuses, Yuki and Laetitia. They carefully describe to us the selected treatment to ensure it meets our expectations and they also take the opportunity to offer alternatives. But no, we will keep the Evolution treatment! We then choose the pressure level for the massage as well as massage oil. You have a choice of oils according to your tastes and desired effect. I opted for the Quintessence oil whose action helps balancing the mind with emotions (ginger, mandarin and incense). Elodie chooses Haze oil with rose and ylang-ylang for deep relaxation.
Please note that besides Mandarin Oriental signature treatments, the spa also offers facial treatments elaborated by Guerlain.
We change to wear very fluffy bathrobes, the time of massage has come! The beginning is given by the tingsha gong (Tibetan cymbals), it will be the same crystal clear sound at the end but curiously a lot less fun…
Evolution is a relaxing treatment following a star path. We start the treatment with the stomach and then pass on each member by returning each time with the belly. Massaging the tummy is not necessarily the most pleasant thing that is but it was very enjoyable and the result is amazing, my belly is relaxed! Then we go back again and each member is massaged with unique expertise. Throughout the massage, soft music accompanies you for a complete relaxation. Your eyes are hidden so you can focus on your sensations. We enjoyed all the care brought to our well-being during this treatment. We never got cold and we never had any pain feeling. Sometimes you have to suffer to be relaxed, this is not the case here! Relaxation comes very naturally, without forcing.
At the end of the treatment, you feel both light and relaxed, as after a good night’s sleep. You awaken after a beautiful dream, fully relaxed, with the sound of tingsha. To top it all, a drink is served together with a light pastry with a delicate taste. It’s already time to leave. Mandarin Oriental Paris spa is truly exceptional. The sensory experience offered will transport you away from the bustle of Parisian life on a cloud…
We will be back, for sure!
