Sheraton Stockholm – Superior room

The Sheraton Stockholm hotel is pretty easy to reach. It is located in the city center. I arrived at the Arlanda airport and decided to take the Arlanda express. I believe this was the right choice. After 20 minutes of a pleasant journey, I arrived at the central station. Then, the Sheraton is only 5 minutes walking distance from there.

I arrived one hour before the check-in time but was able to get my room. The lady at the reception was pretty friendly and accommodated my request to get a quiet room with a bathtub. As a Starwood preferred guest, I got a room on the SPG floors (5 and 6). The check-in was quickly completed, in less than 5 minutes.

The room is pretty vast for Stockholm. If you compare to the standards of other hotels, this one is definitely much larger. It has a view on the inner courtyard which is probably the result of my request for a quiet room. Other rooms have a city view, which should be nice but noisy based on the traffic. I have to say that mine is really quiet.

The room window has probably not been cleaned up for few years outside but beside that, the room is very clean. I assume that it isn’t possible to clean up the outside window regularly as it doesn’t fully open so the logistics required certainly doesn’t make it easy to clean it up regularly.

The room has two queen beds, each with 4 pillows, should be enough for anybody! The bedding quality is one of Sheraton regular assets and here it is quite good.

There is a well-furnished minibar and two complimentary bottles of water.

There is a specific space to put your luggage and a closet.

The bathroom is large enough to have a bidet and a bathtub. It is clean with light colors. The bathtub doesn’t seem to be as deep as regular ones, probably to save water, but it is still ok.

There is a desk next to the TV with a wired internet access. I have used the Wifi access and it was pretty fast, no issue with stability and pretty straight forward to connect. The back chair of the desk chair isn’t so comfortable, a bit hard, made in wood.

The only minor problem I had with this room was to set a regular temperature. If you set the air conditioning, then it is a bit noisy. But if you don’t set it, even though it is march and outside temperature doesn’t cross 5°C, then the room temperature will quickly become too warm. Room isolation should be perfect here!

Catering

I have tried the room service. The club sandwich presentation wasn’t really appealing but the taste was good, especially for the sauce and the fries. Then the lemon meringue pie was good.

On another day, I tried the fish and chips and it was pretty good. The fish was tasty with the tartar sauce. Really enjoyed it!

So overall, I was quite pleased with the room service food quality.

The breakfast is delivered at the 360 restaurant, next to the lobby. There is a good selection of salty and sweet foods. The small croissants weren’t really tasty, not the right texture. Then I have been keeping on eating this Bircher muesli, so good, give it a try! The juices and smoothies were good as well.

There is a club lounge available on the 7th floor for SPG platinum members and those who have a club level room. The lounge is a really exclusive area, never really crowded. You can have free drinks there and also eat some basic food (chicken wings, cheese, nachos, chips, sausages, ribs, etc…). Breakfast is also served there but because of the size of the lounge, the buffet offers fewer options than the lobby breakfast. The lounge is good place to work or have a drink in a quiet area.

Activities

Fitness Center

There is a fitness center at the first floor of the hotel. There is some equipment available for those looking to make some sport there. The music sounded a bit loud as it could be heard from the corridor outside. Might be fun for those who have a room next to the fitness center.

As the Sheraton Stockholm has a very central situation in the city, you can reach lots of nearby spots by walking distance. There are a lot of good restaurants available in the Vasagatan street and around. Also, the old city is just across the bridge on the other side of the river.

Conclusion

The Sheraton Stockholm is doing more for the SPG members so I strongly advise you to become a SPG member. This is free and brings in free benefits, even for those who aren’t staying frequently there.

The good thing with the Sheraton Stockholm is its location, very central and next to the Arlanda Express and the subway stations.

Then overall, the rooms are quite large and quiet. So it is a good place to stay.
