Arrival at the hotel
The Four Seasons Las Vegas hotel is located on one end of the Las Vegas Strip, next to the McCarran International airport. The guest rooms are located between the 35 and 39 floors of the Mandalay Bay hotel. The Four Seasons has a separate entrance from the Mandalay Bay thus allowing us to enjoy a more customized and exclusive experience while arriving at the hotel.
The Four Seasons area is well designed with nice palm trees and fountain, as an oasis in the Nevada desert.
The check-in at Four Seasons Las Vegas is pretty smooth. It is not a regular Vegas hotel with endless check-in lines. Here, you come and you get your room keys in less than 5 minutes.
After the check-in, you are directed to a corridor that leads to the elevators and the pool. You will find the Spa, some meeting rooms and a shop selling Four Seasons items in this corridor. The elevator allows you to reach your room on the higher floors but also the Mandalay Bay through a back door on the first floor.
The Sunrise/Sunset Suite
Our sunrise/sunset suite was located on the 38th floor, at the end of one hotel wing. When you enter the room, you will be amazed by the view. It has a panoramic view over the desert, the McCarran airport and the Las Vegas Strip. The Strip view is really nice and unobstructed, probably one of the best Strip view you could have in all Las Vegas hotels. The Strip view is usually limited to the nearby hotels when you are in the middle of the Strip, here it isn’t the case, you can see the entire Strip.
The suite decoration is based on grey tones with purple touches enhancing the panorama. The daylight is everywhere in the different rooms thanks to the floor to ceiling windows. The furniture is modern and luxurious.
First, you have a large hall with nice floor tiles and a powder room for guests next to it. After that, you enter into the living room with a view on the Strip. A large desk made of black lacquered wood is facing the window, what an outstanding view to work!
Then, a large sofa is facing an even large flat screen TV. Also in this living room, there is a dining area with a large round table surrounded by a beautiful damask fabric sofa. The kitchen is available next to this dining area and has a separate entrance for staff if needed. The kitchen includes a Nespresso coffee machine and a mini bar.
After that, you have a small corridor with a large dressing on the left and the bathroom on the right. The dressing is really nice and well suited for long stays. It is possible to open up two large suitcases inside it. The bathroom is bright with a shower and a bathtub. Luxurious amenities come from Etro Milano and are branded Four Seasons Las Vegas at the back of each product.
Last but not least, the bedroom. It features a large Four Seasons bed that is quite comfortable. We really enjoyed the fabulous bedding. Bed side tables are also large and nice. You have another TV screen in the bedroom but you’ll most likely spend your evening watching the view with all the planes arriving and departing from the airport, a real show for all the travelers.
Catering
The Four Seasons Las Vegas hotel has two restaurants :
- The Verandah : an authentic Italian restaurant that serves pizzas, pastas and salads.
- Charlie Palmer : simply the best steak house in Las Vegas.
Those are two places where you can go and be sure to enjoy a good dinner. They also have top notch service.
The breakfast can be taken in room or at the Verandah restaurant. Near the swimming pool and the palm trees, this place is very pleasant to start the day. 5 kinds of formulas are suggested : the Continental Colazione, the American, the Jump Start, the Antioxydant Healthy Start and the Glutten-Free Quatro. Being French, we have selected the Continental one which was pretty good.
A bar delivering drinks and light meals is available next to the swimming pool so that you can stay during the whole day around the pool and eat and drink at your convenience.
At the lobby bar, you can also order a coffee and pastries for the breakfast and then have some drinks through the day.
Activities
The Four Seasons Las Vegas doesn’t have a casino in house which is an advantage as it is then less crowded. But if you really want to gamble, you can reach the Mandalay Bay casino in one minute without leaving the building through the first floor. This is really convenient as it allows benefiting from a casino at direct reach while not having all the crowd related to it inside the hotel where you are staying.
The Mandalay Bay casino is pretty nice. It offers a large selection of table games and slot plays. Also, a mall with a lot of retail stores is available for shopping. The Mandalay Bay also hosts the Shark Reef, a large aquarium where you can walk in a glass corridor surrounded by sharks. It is also easy to reach the Luxor and the Excalibur through the mall or by taking the tram that connects them to the Mandalay Bay, really convenient when the outside temperature doesn’t make it sustainable to walk in the street.
The Four Seasons has all the features to refresh and relax. First, there is a spa inside the hotel. Then, the swimming pool, located next to the Verandah restaurant, offers all the peace you could be looking for in Vegas. It is always easy to find a sun bed or a bench to relax there. The pool temperature was ideal, not too warm and not cold either. The service around the pool is perfect. When you arrive, someone will set up towels for you on the sun bed of your choice. After that, some iced water with glasses will be delivered to you. Then regularly, they will inquire to find out if you need something to drink or to eat. Also, from time to time, they will give you something complimentary to eat (small ice cream, mini snickers, etc…). The pool bar menu offers light meals and drinks. Tested the fresh fruits boat, really nice and refreshing and the fries and nachos which were good as well. You’ll feel like a king while drinking a cocktail comfortably lying on a bench under the shadow.
Beside the pool and the spa, there is also a fitness center with a view on the garden and the fountain.
Conclusion
The Four Seasons Las Vegas hotel is a good choice for those who are looking to stay in a luxury hotel that offers high-end services in an exclusive area. The Four Seasons is a small hotel for Las Vegas in which you’ll feel pampered in a luxury mood. But still, with its direct connection to the Mandalay Bay, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy all the options available in big Las Vegas hotels from restaurants to casino and shows. So it is a good compromise overall.
What I liked most about this hotel is the catering. I have tried a lot of restaurants in Las Vegas and Charlie Palmer is by far the best I had. The meat available there is really tasty. Then the Verandah Italian restaurant is also very good. What I have found in Las Vegas is that the restaurants quality is usually pretty random inside the hotels, not all the restaurants deserve a visit, even in the best hotels of the Strip. But at the Four Seasons Las Vegas, you can try both without being worried the food quality, you will be amazed.
