How not to fall in love with the iconic Beau-Rivage Geneva hotel? Beyond being one of the most sumptuous properties, Beau-Rivage Geneva is above all a House, that since its opening in 1865, has never ceased to fascinate the world leaders, crowned heads, artists and directors, but also anyone who has crossed its door.
Even climbing the few steps leading to his lobby is already a promise of wonder. The eye is caught by this Belle Epoque decor set with marble columns, and at the heart of which sings a fountain, overhung by an impressive atrium.
But don’t imagine being intimidated by the splendor of the place. Here you will find a haven of peace far from the hustle and bustle of Geneva life, an experience sublimated by an art of hospitality whose refinement is matched only by the kindness of your hosts, happy to welcome you to this residence.
There is nothing unnecessarily ostentatious here. Each marble, each piece of furniture collected by the Mayer family over the generations since 1865, like each precious fabric, blends with a striking naturalness in the setting to find its rightful place.
Arrival at the hotel
As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed by Nina and her good humor that then led us to our suite.
After using one of the elevators (the first to be installed in Switzerland) decorated like a balcony overlooking the docks, simply walking through the muffled corridors is pure delight. Light is invited through stained glass windows, real paintings signed by the master glassmakers Enneveux & Bonnet, while the journey is punctuated by furniture and collected objects.
These corridors, which are more confidential, exclusively serve the suites on the fifth floor. The suites and rooms on the lower floors are organized around the incredible atrium.
Heavenly Suite – St Exupéry
In the natural continuity of the rest of the hotel, the Antoine de Saint Exupéry suite extends over 150 m² of pure beauty. Part of the collection of heavenly suites, this duplex is arranged like a private apartment where the same attention to detail and excellence prevails.
The main entrance, with its emerald marble tiled floor, opens onto the lounge, from which high windows overlook Lake Geneva and its water jet. An alcove dining room nestles under the second floor, offering an atmosphere conducive to confidences around the table.
A masterly chandelier crowns the living room while its crystal fragments are reflected in a smoked mirror overlooking a period fireplace. This mirror set with moldings is transformed, when the time comes, into a state-of-the-art television screen.
From the floor to the ceiling, each place where you look is an opportunity to admire splendid marquetry works and selected objects.
From there, a masterly staircase with wooden and brass handrails leads to the room. Divinely hushed, it looks like a candy box, lined with precious brocade bristles. And surprise! Above the bed, an opening to the sky allows anyone to fall asleep under the stars.
Beyond displaying a rare beauty, just like the suite, the room offers you the exquisite impression of being alone in the world, between sky and lake. The opulent carpet and luxurious wall coverings complete this divine sensation.
For those who only allow themselves to be wrapped by Morpheus’ arms in complete darkness, an electric shutter, operated from the bed, completely conceals the room. It is from these same action buttons that you can control the lights in the suite, with a simple press, and unroll, again electrically, the shutters of the windows on the lake.
For your comfort, the House has thought of everything, from the second flat screen to the connected tablet, via which, among other things, you can order a room service, created in the kitchens of Le Chat Botté.
From the suite bedroom, an elegant dressing room leads to the bathroom, where a second surprise awaits you! Indeed, the bathroom, whose refinement echoes the rest of the suite, has a large jacuzzi bathtub, separate toilets, as well as an Italian shower…. opening onto a hammam! Yes, you read it right: a hammam!
Beyond the timeless and impeccable atmosphere of the place, as well as the other celestial suites, the St Exupery Suite conceals technological treasures. As proof, the mirror that transforms into a flat screen, the toilets and hammam controlled by a digital panel or the possibility to listen music in the bathroom.
Beau-Rivage Geneva hotel catering
The excellence of Le Chat Botté, Beau-Rivage Geneva Michelin starred restaurant, can be found at the breakfast table. True to his philosophy, the Michelin starred Chef Dominique Gauthier has applied his style to it, carefully selecting local and Provence producers. As a fine gourmet, you will appreciate the quality of each product offered.
Because beyond the vast choice that extends from classic hot dishes to breads, pastries and cakes, as well as an assortment of freshly squeezed fruit juices, milks, cereals, cut fruit, local delicatessen and cheeses, salmon, or even dairy products, the taste is there.
For example, the recipes for Le Chat Botté breads required 1 month of development by a baker craftsman before meeting the Chef’s requirements. Similarly, you can discover the “Miels de Stéphanie”, a Geneva beekeeper with whom the hotel has its own hives.
The attention to detail is revealed even in the jams where you can always feel the Chef’s desire to surprise his guests. These little jewels made in Provence with sweet tones of fig and spice bread, cherry and balsamic vinegar, or orange and cocoa flakes, will finally captivate you. Finally, the cooked eggs are available on request.
About Le Chat Botté, you can also discover our fabulous experience at the Chef’s table, within the Michelin starred cuisine of Chef Dominique Gauthier. We really had a fabulous time in this must-see restaurant in Geneva. The Chef perfectly masters the combination of tastes and textures.
The hotel also has a gourmet Thai restaurant : Le Patara. Located just in front of Le Chat Botté, you will be welcomed by Pascal, the restaurant director. He will be able to provide you with sound advice on the choice of dishes. The restaurant’s decor is very immersive, a real trip to Asia. And on the plate, the delicate flavors blend with the refined tastes for the delight of the taste buds. This Thai restaurant is undoubtedly one of the best in Geneva.
