Arrival at the hotel
Les Etangs de Corot are located twenty minutes west of Paris. We reached the hotel after a rise in the winding streets of Ville d’Avray.
This luxury hotel is equipped with a wide handy underground car park. Then you have a direct access by elevator to the lobby. That’s it, all we have to do now is to enjoy and forget the frenzy of the city.
The desk staff greeted us with a smile and then took us to our junior suite on the top floor of the hotel. He also mentioned to us the location of the spa and the several restaurants.
The Junior Suite
Our junior suite is located on the 3rd floor under roofs. One side is attic with beautiful openings on nature. From here you can discover the bucolic environment of the Etangs de Corot. This is a complete change of scenery. We already feel like being on holidays!
The junior suite is vast. First you have a small corridor leading to the separated toilets on the right and a large closet on the left, then it opens on the main room with a desk, seating area with two comfortable armchairs and finally a large bed. The decoration is made of red tones highlighting the green shades outside.
The bathroom has a walk-in shower and a bathtub. The walls are covered with stones. It brings a touch of naturalness in the contemporary comfort of the room. Caudalie products are available in generous quantity. This is an opportunity to discover or rediscover this cosmetic brand whose products are made from grape seeds, recognized for their antioxidant properties. The hotel’s Spa is also a Caudalie spa.
We appreciated the little touches like fresh fruit tray replaced daily. Note that the hotel offers an evening turn down service, something not really common for a 4 star hotel. Finally, the atmosphere is very quiet. The soundproofing is really perfect, we couldn’t hear any noise from neighboring rooms or the people in the garden.
Les Etangs de Corot have three restaurants: the Café des Artistes, the Corot and the Paillotes. Each restaurant has its own menu and a unique setting.
Breakfast can be taken at the Café des Artistes in a cozy and rustic atmosphere with exposed brick covered walls. It is served as a buffet breakfast. Everything is there for a good start in the day : pastries, different kinds of bread, pies and cakes, fruit salads, fresh fruit, stewed fruit, dairy products, cereals, meats, eggs, cheeses, fresh juices, etc … and all of that with the quality! Products such as honey and jams are coming from Alain Milliat and the selection of teas comes from Mariages & Frères, two brands well known for their expertise…
If the weather allows it, you will enjoy your breakfast outside in the courtyard, around a charming fountain. We were pleasantly surprised by this generous breakfast that offers excellent value for money.
For our first evening, we had the diner at Le Corot. Le Corot is the Michelin starred restaurant of Les Etangs de Corot. The place is classy and cozy at will. The dining room opens on the beautiful flower garden bloomed of roses and white hydrangeas. The setting is particularly intimate and ideal to organize a romantic dinner with many tables for two guests.
We opted for the tasting menu with five major courses (plus a few unexpected steps). Here are the courses proposed by the Chef :
- John Dorry
- Farm Lamb
- Lemon tart
I particularly enjoyed the farm lamb, a real treat, excellent as well as the selected cheeses and lemon pie, unique! Each dish is very refined with the appropriate side dish and seasoning. This kitchen is very delicate.
On top of that, appetizers, pre starter, pre dessert and sweets are true little jewels! In short, after such a feast, we were thrilled! Le Corot is one of the finest restaurants in Western Paris, with the bonus, the scenery!
The next day we had lunch at the restaurant Les Paillotes which overlooks the garden and offers a magnificent view of the greenery and the pond. This is a unique place with a wooded decoration. We really felt far from Paris.
We enjoyed a delicious burrata and a beautiful sole. As you can see from the photos, the dishes are generous. For dessert, a savory tart made with season strawberries.
The second evening we dined in the rural setting of Le Café des Artistes. This restaurant is the one that offers the most affordable menu with excellent value for money at around 35 € for a full meal.
Dinner started well with smoked ham delicately accompanied with bush sheep, delicious! Then we succumbed to the confit of pork with beautiful carrots and duck breast. Again, original and refined flavors. To conclude this feast, the lemon as a pie. The lemon tart is really common right now since it can be found on all menus but this time, it is served in a pot where the cream is mixed with pastry chips. The result is both surprising and very fresh.
Staying at Les Etangs de Corot is the opportunity to relax in a bucolic environment close to Paris. I highly recommend you to enjoy a walk around the ponds. There are many benches where you can sit to enjoy the scenery. It is possible to borrow bikes from the hotel for those who wish.
The hotel has an English garden. It is very pleasant to linger and have a drink there under the shade of plane trees, surrounded by hydrangeas, and lulled by the murmur of the fountain. A little haven of peace.
The Caudalie spa offers the opportunity to relax with unique treatments. The philosophy of the brand is inspired by the wine therapy based on grape seeds, recognized for their antioxidant properties.
The spa setting is also echoing nature. There is a relaxation room with steam room and shower fully dressed with stone walls and bamboo curtains. One of the great strengths of the spa is its jacuzzi opening on the garden, we had a nice time there.
We had a great weekend at Les Etangs de Corot. This really is the ideal place to relax near Paris. The setting is very nice. Everyone will find what he is looking for with the three restaurants that offer a different setting and a specific menu. The hotel is well maintained and the staff is caring. We will gladly come back!
