We have recently been to Las Vegas and we have reviewed 3 hotels located on the Strip : the Wynn Las Vegas, the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas and the Four Seasons Las Vegas. We have stayed in the best suites of those hotels. You can read the reviews there to see the details :
- Four Seasons Sunrise Sunset Suite
- Four Seasons Presidential Suite
- Mandarin Oriental Dynasty Suite
- Mandarin Oriental Presidential Suite (Emperor)
- Wynn Parlor Suite
Please note that there are others hotels in Las Vegas that deserve a visit but we didn’t had enough time to stay in all those so our review is limited to the ones we had selected based on a couple of factors. Those 3 hotels are undoubtedly part of the Top 5 of Las Vegas hotels.
Now it is time to compare them to find out which one is the best for your next stay in Las Vegas, Nevada!
Best accommodation in Las Vegas
Our choice would go to the Mandarin Oriental. Why? Because the rooms are really nice. The decoration will delight any guest staying there. The bathrooms we had were outstanding as well. If you compare what can be compared, only from an accommodation standpoint, ie the Mandarin Oriental Dynasty Suite, the Wynn Parlor Suite and the Four Seasons Sunrise Sunset Suite, then the Mandarin Oriental Dynasty Suite is the best. Same for the Presidential Suite, the Mandarin Oriental Presidential Suite is better than the Four Seasons Presidential Suite, more space, more refinement and more advanced features.
You would probably wonder what makes this Mandarin Oriental Presidential Suite so special? It is simple : it is the most refined place you’ll ever see. Once you cross the doors, you’ll be amazed with the level of luxury and details that you can find there. It is an endless enchantment from the beginning to the end of the stay. Just to give a view on what we are talking about, here are few uncommon things you can do there : play piano on the nice piano available in the suite, practice fitness in the fitness room or take a bath in the jacuzzi bathtub while enjoying the Strip view (a large one, can easily welcome 4 guests). And all the decoration inside this Presidential suite is so refined, really luxury furniture.
It is quite the same for the Mandarin Oriental Dynasty suite even if the difference with its peers from the Wynn and the Four Seasons is probably not that huge. It is more refined.
Bathroom with all the marble and space is really nice. The bathroom in the Wynn Parlor suite is certainly as large as in the Mandarin Oriental Dynasty suite but from my point of view, it is more classic in terms of setting and decoration. The bathroom at the Four Seasons Las Vegas isn’t so large. In terms of features, the Wynn Parlor suite has a jacuzzi bathtub and the Mandarin Oriental Dynasty suite has a steam shower. Everything else in those bathrooms is regular.
The bedding quality is quite consistent in those hotels, nothing to really worry about, the bed will always be top quality with different kind of pillows to meet most of the requirements.
All these suites have a regular kitchen or at least a kitchen area. The Mandarin Oriental kitchens are the most equipped ones. They really have all you could need to prepare a full dinner and even more. The Wynn Parlor suite just has kind of small kitchen area in the entrance, more limited than what you can find at the Mandarin Oriental and the Four Seasons.
The living rooms always have nice large sofas. The Wynn Parlor suite with the ceiling mirrors is uncommon but nice. The Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons living rooms have nice Strip views.
The Mandarin Oriental suites dining room are so refined. In both the Dynasty and the Presidential suites, we loved the tables and lights, so nice! The Four Seasons Sunset Sunrise suite dining area includes a round table with a sofa around it that is really comfortable. The Four Seasons Presidential suite has a nice dining room with a really special table, the decoration is nice. Loved the alcoves to reach it. There is no dining area in the Wynn Parlor suite.
To be clear, all those suites will make their hosts really happy. But when it comes to making a choice, if you only think about the accommodation, then the Mandarin Oriental Dynasty suite is a right choice. If you have extra money, you could go up to the Presidential suite. Again, this is only from an accommodation standpoint. There are always others factors to take into consideration as you’ll see below.
Best view in Las Vegas hotels
It really depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a full strip view, then the Four Seasons has the best. Being located on one end of the Strip, it really has the best perspective. You however have to ensure that you really get a room with a Strip view as not all have a full Strip view.
The Mandarin Oriental Strip view is limited to the nearby hotels such as the Planet Hollywood and the Paris Las Vegas.
Then from the Wynn Tower Suites, you’ll see the Palazzo and Treasure Island.
If you aren’t absolutely looking for a Strip view, then the Wynn offers a really nice view on the golf side, really peaceful. The Four Seasons has a nice view over the airport and the desert on the other side.
Our suggestion would be to take a Strip view for few nights during the week days, just to enjoy it but to avoid the week end as the prices are way higher during the week end. So during the week end, opt for a city or desert view, it is cool as well and will allow you to have a potentially larger room for the same price as a Strip side room.
Best Las Vegas swimming pool
Our choice goes to the Four Seasons! The Four Seasons Las Vegas swimming pool is really nice. It is large enough to accommodate all the guests. It is never too crowded. The service is top notch. They will select a sun deck and prepare it for you. Then they will regularly inquire to ensure that you have everything you need and last but not least, they will bring you some fresh water and regularly some little things to eat. The pool area with the fountain and the palm trees is really like an oasis, really liked it!
The Wynn Tower Suites pools are pretty small and you’ll hardly find shadow. Larger pools are available below but they are usually quite crowded.
The Mandarin Oriental pools are not really big either. It is located on the 8th floor of the hotel.
Don’t take me wrong, all these pools are ok but you’ll certainly enjoy more spending some time at the Four Seasons pool. Cabanas are available at the Wynn and the Mandarin Oriental. The Four Seasons doesn’t have regular cabanas but they have really comfortable benches.
Best Las Vegas Casino
If you want to gamble, the Wynn is the best option! Indeed, the most beautiful casino in Las Vegas is the Encore one, direct reach from the Wynn. But the Wynn casino is really nice as well. Wynn and Encore casinos are part of the Red Card program.
The Mandarin Oriental doesn’t have any casino in house. The closest one is the Aria casino which is part of MLife program. The Bellagio casino is not far, just 15 minutes away.
The Four Seasons doesn’t have any casino in house either but you can reach the Mandalay Bay casino directly through the elevator on the 1st floor. The Mandalay Bay casino is also a MLife casino.
So if the casino is your top requirement, check in at the Wynn. If it is a secondary requirement or even something you prefer to avoid, the Four Seasons and the Mandarin Oriental will be fine as they don’t have all the crowd related to the casinos inside while still having a casino available within 5-10 minutes’ walk.
Best restaurant in Las Vegas
For the restaurants, the best we had was Charlie Palmer steak house at the Four Seasons Las Vegas. Charlie Palmer meat is so good! The Verandah, and its Italian cuisine, is also a good choice. Those make a consistent top quality offering that allows the Four Seasons to rank number 1 for the catering in our selection.
Then, the Wynn has the widest offering by far because of the hotel size but it isn’t as consistent as the Four Seasons. You’ll find very good quality at the Wynn with restaurants such as Wing Lei which is probably the best Chinese restaurant in Las Vegas but you’ll also find more common places with the Buffet.
At the Mandarin Oriental, the tea time bar is an inescapable place. You’ll love the view and the exclusivity of the place as well as what you’ll taste there, the Mandarin Oriental tea time is really nice!
Top hotel location in Las Vegas
The Four Seasons is located on one end of the Strip, next to the airport, after the MGM Grand and the Luxor. The Mandarin Oriental is in the middle of the Strip, next to the Aria, Crystals center and the Planet Hollywood. The Wynn is on the other end of the Strip, next to the Palazzo and Treasure Island.
So if you are there for just one or two days and you want to visit a lot of hotels, then the central location of the Mandarin Oriental might be better. But staying at the Four Seasons or the Wynn doesn’t mean that you will be completely isolated from the others hotels, it is just that you’ll have to walk a bit more. Keep in mind that there are also some connecting trains between many hotels on both sides of the Strip.
So from a location standpoint, it doesn’t really matter. Make up your mind based on the other criteria unless you have something very specific to do in one of those hotels area.
Conclusion
As you can see, there is no direct answer to which is the best hotel in Las Vegas. Indeed, it really depends on what you are looking for and how much you are ready to spend.
If you are looking for a fully integrated resort experience with casino, golf, theater, shops and lots of restaurants, then the Wynn Tower Suites is the right option.
If you are looking for top notch accommodation and service, refined luxury, peaceful atmosphere and central Strip location, then the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas will make you happy.
If you want a compromise between those previous two, then the Four Seasons Las Vegas is a good target. It has direct access to the Mandalay Bay casino and resort. It has the privacy and exclusivity you could expect while staying in a 5 star hotel.
The good thing in Las Vegas is that you could easily stay in very large suites without paying thousands of dollars. But the price difference between week days and week end is usually quite significant. Same if you are staying during holiday period or while a major convention is taking place. So take into consideration those factors. Those are certainly pretty obvious but really significant in Las Vegas as you would see.
Last but not least, if you plan to gamble a lot, don’t spend too much money in the accommodation. It doesn’t make sense to pay a lot for something you won’t really use if you are most of the day at the casino. And then, a lot of hotels offer discounted rates or even complimentary accommodation to big gamblers.
